TWO men who were caged for the brutal murder of a convicted rapist in Padiham have had their minimum terms slashed by appeal judges in London.

Alan Lee Street (26) was beaten and stabbed at a house in Stockbridge Road in December 2008. Peter Leonard (53), of Oswaldtwistle, was jailed for at least 28 years and Allan Palmer (46), of Stockbridge Road, Padiham, was jailed for a minimum of 25 years.

Today Leonard had his sentence cut to 25 years and Palmer’s was slashed to 20 years at the Court of Appeal.
