Where are the big characters in today’s politics?

Britain is in election meltdown.

Our screens and papers are full of analysis, claim and counter-claim, not to mention in-depth reports on the kitchens used by the leaders of our two main parties.

Don’t get me wrong, the 2015 General Election is one that will shape the lives of us all in coming years. What is really lacking though are the big personalities who led to the launch of the “Spitting Image” televison shows. Characters such as Michael Heseltine and Michael Foot were lampooned for their individuality. That is sadly lacking in today’s slick, manufactured, sterile political world.
