Are fewer people wearing poppies this year?

Is it just me, or are fewer people wearing their poppies this year?

Now it could be that, in these austere times, many people are just counting the pennies, or maybe the annual Poppy Appeal has not been publicised as much this year.

Either way, the appeal deserves the support of everybody in this country regardless of creed or colour.

Next year sees the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War and we will no doubt be reminded of the atrocities. Burnley lost a staggering 4,000 men between 1914 and 1918.

We should not forget them.
