A FORMER Olympic swimmer and TV sports personality is to host a Burnley sports award ceremony.

Sharron Davies MBE, an Olympic silver medallist, will be the star guest at the Burnley Sports Awards, held at the Mechanics on June 21st.

It is a major coup for the community sports awards in a massive year for sport, when the 2012 Olympic Games are held in London.

Burnley Community Sports Awards pay tribute to those who show dedication to perform at the highest level, or those who work tirelessly to support individuals or clubs for the love of sport.
