A stretch of the Leeds Liverpool Canal, Burnley, has been drained to help workers identify the source of a small leak.
Passers-by will have noticed the lack of water in the canal from Finsley Gate to Manchester Road Bridge.
The Canal and River Trust, which is carrying out repair work, said the canal should be fully reopen from Saturday.
A spokesman said: “The Leeds Liverpool Canal is currently drained for a short stretch through Burnley from Finsley Gate Bridge (Bridge 130E) to Manchester Road Bridge (130B).
“This is to allow staff from the Canal and River Trust to carry out a full inspection of the canal bed to identify and rectify the source of a small leak. The canal is due to reopen to navigation again from this Saturday.”
