THE director of the UCLan Burnley Campus had a close shave when he bared his chest for charity.

Dr Martin Brown had his chest waxed to raise money for the Prince’s Trust Million Makers Scheme. He was joined by lecturer Naim Iltaf who had his arms shaved by Poppies Hair and Beauty in Burnley.

Dr Brown said: “The experience wasn’t too bad and on a pain scale of one to 10 it was about a five. It wasn’t as painful as I thought it would be but having said that it’s not something I’d choose to have again. The fact it’s raised lots of money for such a great cause is the important thing.”

The event was organised by students Bushra Zubair, Maryam Rehman and Shafia Ashraf. It raised more than £500 to complement the £1,200 students collected before Christmas while bag packing in Sainsbury’s. The next fund-raiser is a Family Fun Day from 11am to 5pm tomorrow at Burnley Boys and Girls’ Club, in Barden Lane.
