THE Burnley Labour Party has held a minute’s silence for the victims of the shocking Norwegian tragedy.

The silence was held at Burnley Miners’ Club on Monday and Mr Peter Pike, chairman of the party said: “The party is sending a letter of sympathy and condolences to the Norwegian ambassador, Kim Traavik, in London.

“The appalling bomb attack in the centre of Oslo shows what devastation can be wreaked by a dedicated extremist right wing fanatic. The attacks at the Labour Party youth summer camp which followed with such a tragic high death toll is beyond comprehension in a country noted for its tolerance and peaceful role in the world.

“Our thoughts and sympathy are very much with the Norwegian people at this tragic time.”
