A BURNLEY man came home to find his living room ablaze.
Fire crews were called to the house, in Oxford Road, at 4-30pm yesterday and spent half-an-hour tackling the fire with beaters.
The man, in his forties, had left the property around lunchtime but when he returned he found a section of carpet, electric heater, quilt and curtains on fire and called firefighters.
Luckily, the blaze was confined to one room, although there was some smoke damage to the rest of the house.
Lee Pickup, acting crew manager at Burnley fire station, said the living room door had been closed, which stopped oxygen getting to the fire and prevented it from being much worse.
He said the cause of the fire, which left the room severely smoke damaged, was unknown at this stage but was being treated as an accident.
