Man named after Burnley car park plunge

A man who plunged to his death from a Burnley multi-storey car park has been named.

David John Howard (52), of Moorview Way, Skipton, died after falling from the Millennium car park, in the town centre, on Tuesday.

Police were called to the scene at 12-40pm, where they cordoned off the entrance to the busy car park behind the Next store and adjacent to the Pioneer car park.

Paramedics pronounced Mr Howard, who fell from an upper storey of the car park, dead at the scene.

He was identified on Wednesday by his family, and his inquest is due to be opened tomorrow. The incident was described as being “non-suspicious” by police.

Since the tragedy, Facebook users have expressed their shock and have paid their respects on Facebook.

One said: “OMG! So truly sorry 4 this man n his family! My condolences 2 this family 4 ur loss [sic].”

Another said: “Poor man. Thinking of his family at this sad time xx.”

And a Twitter user added: “Awful news to hear about the man who fell off the car park in burnley. So sad. [sic]”.
