Man in hospital after Burnley motorway smash

AN elderly man was taken to hospital after being cut from his car following a motorway crash.

The accident happened at 9 p.m. yesterday at junction 11 of the M65 when a Mazda was in collision with a Renault Scenic.

The 74-year-old man, who was driving the Renault Scenic, was freed by firefighters and taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital with suspected neck and chest injuries

The 28-year-old woman driver of the Mazda was treated at the scene for shock.
