Family and friends of a devoted dad-of-three from Burnley who died just before Christmas have raised £3,700 in his memory.

The cash was presented to the British Heart Foundation by Mr Eamonn Kilbride’s wife Julie and children Laurajade, Conor and Jack, at Burnley Golf Club.

Following Mr Kilbride’s shock death, after he collapsed at a party, friends and family held fund-raising events in his memory. A charity football match was held at Accrington Stanley and supporters gathered at Padiham Town Hall for an evening of entertainment, with a charity auction.

Mr Kilbride’s son Conor (19) and friend Charlotte Thompson raised a further £400 by taking part in the Great Manchester Run.

His daughter Laurajade said: “Thanks to everybody who helped with the fund-raising. My dad would’ve been amazed, he wouldn’t believe how much we’ve raised.”

Mr Kilbride’s wife Julie added: “He would’ve been so proud. He loved playing golf and that’s why we decided to present the cheque at the club.”
