A Burnley schoolboy and Royal Marine cadet received the royal seal of approval when he was selected to take part in a parade at Buckingham Palace.
Thomas Kew, a Year 9 pupil at Sir John Thursby Community College, was among a group of cadets who paraded with the Royal Marines Band of Portsmouth and Collingwood, attended by the Duke of Edinburgh.
To mark the occasion, the Duke presented each Royal Marine cadet with a commemorative coin.
Sir John Thursby headteacher Mr David Burton said: “We are very proud Thomas was selected for this prestigious occasion. I understand he was the only cadet from Burnley chosen. This is the second time this year that one of our students has been selected to go to Buckingham Palace and Thomas’s work is a fantastic example of the voluntary social action that so many of our students contribute to our community. Well done Thomas and all of the cadets you represent.”
