Power cut hits Burnley leisure centre

A POWER failure has forced Burnley’s St Peter’s Centre to close to the public today.

Leisure centre members will be unable to use the facilities until the electricity supply is repaired.

The power failed over the weekend and staff had to close the popular leisure centre yesterday.

Engineers are currently working to repair the problem but it is unclear when the centre will be open again.

Health facilities at the St Peter’s Centre are running as normal today.

Scott Bryce, assistant manager at the St Peter’s Centre, said: “The issue we have got is that there has been an electricity failure in the main panel.

“We are just getting it fixed and repaired so we are currently closed to the public. We do not know when we will be open yet but we will be made aware in the next couple of hours.
“All our members can use Padiham Leisure Centre and the 17 centres which are part of the Active Network.”
