PHOTOS: Snowfall in Burnley

BURNLEY woke up to wintery scenes as snowfall swept through East Lancashire.

Blizzards covered parts of the town in a blanket of snow overnight as sub-zero temperatures set in.

Burnley was bracing itself for more snowfall today as winter finally arrived in the town.

Gritters were out in force overnight and motorists had to brave the snow on some of the town’s roads this morning.

The Met Office said the cold weather may last at least until the weekend and warned drivers that freezing temperatures could cause hazardous conditions on the roads.

Snowfall, sleet and rain is expected the continue across the region throughout the day and into the evening before clearing by tomorrow.
