A complete sell out!

That was the outcome of Padiham’s first ever Farmers and Food Market.

Visitors flocked to the market and some of the stalls had sold out of produce within a couple of hours.

Mr Alan Barnes, manager of the ballroom at Padiham Town Hall, said: “It was unbelievable, people came from Padiham and all the surrounding areas and some of the stallholders had to send out for more produce as it was selling so fast.

“We weren’t sure what the response was going to be but it was terrific. A few people had expressed their doubts about holding an event like this in Padiham so we have proved them wrong and hope to really put the town on the map now.’’

Each stallholder came from within a 15 to 20 mile radius selling a range of fresh meat, food and other locally sourced produce. The market will now be held on the second Sunday of every month on the car park behind Padiham Town Hall.
