An elderly man was rescued by quick-thinking walkers after falling into a canal from his barge in Burnley.
The 76-year-old fell into the Leeds Liverpool Canal near to the canal cottage boatyard in Rosegrove on Monday evening.
Graham Couch, who was walking nearby, witnessed the accident and immediately rushed to help.
He said: “Myself and another passer by pulled him out and I administered first aid until the ambulance arrived.
“He seemed okay after his ordeal. He said he was called Bob and was on holiday with his wife who I treated for shock. I’m trained in first aid so it was lucky I was there.”
