Dorothy is honoured for five decades of service to Guiding

An East Lancashire woman has received a broach and a certificate for 50 years service to Girl Guiding.

Dorothy Bullock (74, above left), was honoured at a meeting of Lancashire East Girl Guiding branch alongside her friend and County President Christine Bullock (above right) who was also recognised for five decades of service.

Dorothy first became a leader in Carleton in 1962, and after a short break became involved with the Brownies in Liverpool when she moved there with late husband Peter in the 1970s.

Later moving to Earby in 1979, she has held various positions with the organisation, including District Commissioner for Craven between 1984 and 1992. Dorothy said: “It was very nice to be presented with the award. “
