A BURNLEY student has swopped the schoolbooks for the TV spotlight – landing a dream role on hit teen drama “Hollyoaks”.

Miles Higson (17) has become the envy of all his friends joining the star-studded cast of the stylish Channel 4 show as cocky youngster Seth Costello.

The former St Joseph’s Park Hill pupil, who attends Bacup and Rawtenstall Grammar School, is now starring in it and admits he is “loving every minute”.

“This time last year I had a Christmas job at Tesco – so this is quite a step up. I used to watch the show before so it was really weird being on it. I was really star struck when I started but everyone is really nice.”

Cliviger-born Miles, who has been acting for five years, got a chance to impress the producer of the show back in March.

“The audition was extremely nerve-racking. I thought ‘this day could change my life forever’. When I found out I had got the role I didn’t believe it.”

Now he lives the showbiz lifestyle, sharing a plush Liverpool pad with Claire Cooper, who plays fiesty Jacqui McQueen. Miles even filmed in the swanky house of Liverpool ace Joe Cole.

But the rising star has still kept his feet on the ground and regularly comes home to see his mum and dad and, of course, do his homework. Miles remained tight-lipped about up-coming story lines, but said Seth is in for an exciting time.
