“There are lots of people who will benefit from the use of these benches, icluding the football club and elderly residents that walk their dogs on the field.

“It’s great to see large firms like Eric Wright Construction giving something back to communities. I would like to thank the company, not only as a councillor but as a member of this community, for this donation.”

Mr Kevin Burgoyne, project management at Eric Wright, said: “It is with great pleasure that we have been able to give something to the residents.

“I would also like to say what a pleasure it is to be project managing the construction of the new Burnley High School.

“All the site team are very proud and I think the teaching staff and students will be very proud of their new school too.”

Eric Wright was awarded the multi-million pound design and build project to construct the school and sixth form at the site off Byron Street.

When completed next Easter, the school will provide places for 450 secondary and 200 sixth form students.
