Boy (11) airlifted to hospital

Police are appealing for information after an 11-year-old boy suffered a badly broken leg following a collision in Burnley.

Police were called around 2pm on Saturday to Clive Street after reports of an accident.

Officers attended and found a boy with leg injuries. It is believed the 11-year-old had been riding a scooter on Clive Street in the direction of Burleigh Street. The boy has crossed the road and collided with a silver Honda Civic being driven by a 27-year-old woman.

The boy suffered a double fracture and was taken to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital by air ambulance for treatment.

The road was closed for more than two hours while accident investigators attended the scene.

Sgt Finn Quainton, of Lancashire Police, said: “We are appealing for witnesses after an 11-year-old boy was injured following a collision in Burnley.

“If you have any information which can help us, contact police on 101 quoting log reference 0871 of June 25.”
