Young woman cut free from car after accident

A YOUNG woman had to be cut free from her car after an accident in Burnley on Saturday morning.

The accident happened just after 9am when a car and a van travelling along Centenary Way collided near to Burnley Tesco.

Firefighters were called to cut the roof off the woman’s car and she was taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital with suspected back injuries.

Crew manager Dave Robinson said: “Paramedics were there when we arrived. The woman was in some distress, but there were no other injuries.”

Part of the road was closed for a short time following the accident.
