Woman (96) trapped in lift

A NINETY-SIX year old woman had to be rescued by firefighters when she became trapped in a lift.

The woman was in the lift at Abbeyfield residential homes in St Stephen Street, Burnley, on Tuesday when it became stuck at 12-30pm.

Crew manager Matthew Hamer said: “The lady was a bit distressed but thankfully hadn’t moved from the floor she was on. We have some special keys to open lifts and we released her safely.”
