VIDEO: Huge Burnley blaze

Waiting for Video...

THE huge fire which swept through a town centre building caused several businesses to be evacuated.

Several fire crews including six pumps and an aerial ladder platform fought the blaze which started in an empty top floor room of a building in Temple Street, at the junction with Plumbe Street.

The top floor of the Sky Bird lettings agency, next to Union Cabs, Delicious Pizzas and a launderette was well ablaze, with smoke and flames shooting into the sky, when fire crews arrived shortly before 2 p.m.

Mr Saeed Rehman, the owner of Sky Bird letting agency, told the Express: “I was acutally in my office when the fire started. Someone came in to the office and said I must leave because the roof was on fire. It was very sad to see.”
