Two men charged in connection with assault
A COUPLE were taken to hospital after they were attacked by two balaclava-clad men wielding wooden sticks.
The incident happened in Willow Street, Burnley, at 7-50pm on Monday when two men burst into a house and attacked a couple with sticks.
Police were called and two men were later arrested in connection with the incident. The couple were taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital but their injuries are not thought to be serious.
Nigel Canning (43) of Kay Street, Nelson, and Michael Exton (40) of Dall Street, Burnley, have both been charged with possession of an offensive weapon, section 47 assault and attempted robbery.
They are due to appear before Burnley magistrates.
