Robber targets Burnley store
Breaking News
Police are appealing for witnesses following a robbery at a paper shop in Burnley.
The incident happened at the B & P Newsagents, in Tunnel Street, yesterday around 10-15am.
A man dressed in dark clothing entered the shop and started a conversation with a member of staff. He then confronted the member of staff and demanded the contents of the till.
The shop assistant opened the till and handed the contents over before he then reached over and grabbed money bags containing loose change. The man left the shop with a quantity of cash and a number of cans of Fosters.
The robber is described as a white man, 6ft. tall, of medium build and was wearing all black clothing with his face covered. He had a local accent.
DC Harvinder Uppal, from Pennine CID, said: “I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time to come forward and contact the police. Fortunately nobody was hurt but we do need to find the person responsible.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Burnley CID on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
