Power cut hits around 700 homes in Padiham
A POWER cut caused a blackout to hundreds of homes in Padiham and Hapton.
Around 700 homes were plunged into darkness when electricity supplies failed at 9pm on Sunday.
Engineers were called out to deal with the blackout which was located to a substation at Simonstone Business Park.
Electricity North West officials ruled out criminal activity and said the power cut was caused by a high voltage cable fault.
A spokesman for the energy network operator said: “The power cut happened at 9-02pm and affected 696 customers.
“Our engineers were sent out so the problem could be fixed quickly.
“Around 35 minutes later we managed to restore power to the majority of homes and the remaining 19 customers were back on by 10-37pm.
“It was caused by a high voltage cable fault near Simonstone Business Park.”
