A KILLER who was one of three men who murdered a convicted rapist at a house in Padiham has married his victim’s second cousin in prison.

Peter Leonard married Nicola Street in Full Sutton Prison, York, in front of close family and friends.

Leonard was convicted of murdering Alan Street, who was too drunk to defend himself, at a house in Stockbridge Road in December 2008. After a five-week trial he was sentenced to life in prison.

Miss Street, the mother of Leonard’s children, supported him throughout his trial at Preston Crown Court in 2009.

A Prison Service spokesman said: “Prisoners are entitled to apply to be married in prison under the Marriages Act 1983. The marriage will only take place at the discretion of the governor and if certain criteria are met. They take place at no cost to the taxpayer.”

Alan Street, whose killers mistakenly believed was a paedophile, was lured to the house where he was tortured with weapons, fists and feet before his body was dumped in an Accrington culvert. It was discovered a month after the killing.

Leonard (54) was told he must serve a minimum of 25 years before he is eligible for parole.

Allan Palmer (47), of Stockbridge Road in Padiham, was also given a life sentence for murder and Kieron Davison (24), also of Stockbridge Road, was jailed for eight years for the manslaughter of Mr Street.
