Not one primary school place left in Burnley or Padiham
CONCERNED families have slammed education chiefs after it has emerged there is not one primary school place available in Burnley and Padiham.
All of the borough’s 30 primary schools are now at maximum capacity after the number of four-year-old school starters rose in 2012.
Official statistics say 98% of new starters in Lancashire will be at a school specified by their parents on the admissions form – but the creaking school system in Burnley and Padiham has meant some families have missed out on all top three school choices.
Lancashire County Council bosses have blamed a baby boom for increased demand for places.
But some angry and upset families in the borough say the authority saw the problem coming and failed to act.
