No truth in Burnley ‘abduction’ claims, say police

POLICE have moved to reassure residents following rumours of a number of abductions in Burnley.

Rumours had been circulating on social network site Facebook but detectives say there is no truth in the claims.

A statement posted on Facebook by Lancashire Police said: “We have not received any reports of ‘abductions.’

“However, we did receive one report of a sexual assault which involved a black car in Burnley. We would reassure people though that this is being thoroughly investigated and four men have been arrested and charged in connection with it.”

Anyone who sees anything suspicious is urged to contact police on 101.
