Mystery death of Burnley student was accident
ACCIDENTAL DEATH: Ryan Anderton
THE mystery death of a Burnley student was an accident, an inquest has ruled.
Burnley College student Ryan Anderton (18) died after falling from an upstairs flat in Kay Street, Rawtenstall, following a night out in the town.
However, an inquest at Clitheroe Coroner’s Court heard that it would never fully be known how Ryan met his death on February 11th this year.
Rossendale man Ryan had been to the Rhythm Station nightclub in Rawtenstall with friends. He later travelled in a taxi from the club to an empty flat in Kay Street with Mr Mark Hughes, a director at letting agent Rent Smart, and Mr Jonathan Holmes.
At some point later, Ryan fell to the ground. A skylight was seen to be open.
A post-mortem examination revealed that blood alcohol levels were twice the legal limit for driving, and there was evidence of mephedrone in his system.
Coroner Mr Michael Singleton recorded a verdict of accidental death.
