Horror crash update: Driver critical

THE driver of a car involved in a horror smash yesterday in which a Burnley woman died remains in a critical condition in hospital.

Police said the 33-year-old man, who was driving a Mercedes which crashed on the A56 near Huncoat, is in an induced coma.

The 35-year old woman, who was a passenger, died shortly after arriving at the Royal Blackburn Hospital. A baby, which was in the back of the car, has been treated for minor injuries.
