FOUR people were taken to hospital after a camper van was involved in a head on collision with a tractor.

Emergency crews raced to Long Causeway in Cliviger following the crash yesterday at 6-10pm.

The four people, all travelling in the Volkswagen van, were taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital – the man with a suspected spinal injury. The driver of the tractor was uninjured.

The road was closed for half-an-hour as crews cleared the debris and watch manager Neil Ashworth, from Burnley Fire Station, said: “Fortunately when we got there nobody needed cutting out. We helped secure the scene, helped out with the lighting and assisted the ambulance crews.”
