Fire crews tackle Burnley outhouse blaze
POLICE are hunting a group of youths believed to have set fire to the outhouse of a Burnley home.
Firefighters were called to the blaze in Leamington Avenue at 5-55pm yesterday.
The downspout and drain were completely destroyed by the fire along with the outside toilet door and a storeroom.
Watch manager Steve Harrison said they were lucky the fire did not spread into the property.
“Nobody was injured but the time of day helped because a lot of people passing by saw the fire. If it had been later on then it could have been a lot worse.
“We are treating it as deliberate as there have been reports of some youths in the area causing a nuisance.”
