Elderly Hapton man dies following accident

AN elderly man from Hapton has died following an accident after he suffered a seizure at the wheel of his car.

Mr Edward Rogers (89) died in the Royal Blackburn Hospital where he was taken after his blue Citroen C4 lost ocntrol and crashed into a lamppost in Blackburn Road, Haslingden, on Wednesday.

Police confirmed Mr Rogers had fallen ill while driving shortly after 1-45pm, and are now appealing for witnesses to the accident.

A woman driver and her five-year-old son, who were travelling in the opposite way when Mr Rogers’ car veered across the road, were taken to hospital with shock and minor bruising.
