TWO young children have been left injured following a road traffic collision in Burnley.

The incident happened on Thursday, July 26th, at around 2-30pm in Venice Avenue when a black Seat collided with two children who were on a pushbike.

The drive of the car stopped, checked the damage on his vehicle and then drove off. The two children were both nine-years-old and one of them required hospital treatment for a leg injury and the other had cuts and bruises but did not need medical attention.

PC Mark Darlington from Burnley police said: “I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward and contact the police.

“We need to trace the driver of the vehicle and we would appeal to him to get in touch so this matter can be resolved.

“Fortunately the children have not been seriously injured but it has been a traumatic experience for them. One will need to return to hospital for an X-Ray and both are being cared for by family.”

Anyone with information is asked to call PC Darlington at the Road Policing Unit on 01772 410465.

People can also contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or on-line at Crimestoppers-uk.org.
