CCTV appeal to catch thieves
CCTV appeal
POLICE are appealing for information and have released CCTV images after two thefts in Burnley town centre last month.
The first offence took place around 4-15pm on December 1st when two men went into River Island in Market Square.
They went to the till to buy items and handed over cash. Then, while completing the transaction, they made a number of requests to the cashier asking to check and re-count the money they had handed over. During this time, the offenders managed to keep back some of their money, therefore not paying the full amount. They then left the store and minutes later returned their purchases claiming to have changed their mind about the items to receive a full refund.
A second offence at 4-30pm the same day saw two men steal an iPhone from the Cash Generator Store in St James’s Street.
PC Richard Gregson said: “I would appeal to anyone who may recognise the men in the images or may have information that could help us trace the people responsible to contact us.”
Anybody with information can contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or on-line at Crimestoppers-uk.org.
