Attack victim “serious but stable” in hospital

A PADIHAM man seriously injured as a result of a fight at a pub in the town remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital

Mr Ivan Sharples (49) was placed in an induced coma following a alarge-scale brawl at the New Black Bull in Mill Street on Sunday, September 23rd, which resulted in him receiving broken bones and head injuries.

Mr Sharples suffered a fractured skull as a result of the attack which happened around 9-20pm.

Four men were arrested by officers following the disturbance.

Daniel Sharples (31) of Kings Drive, Padiham, has been charged with affray. He pleaded guilty and will be sentenced at Burnley Crown Court on November 2nd.

James Exton (27) of Anglesey Avenue, Burnley, was also charged with affray. He has been released on police bail until November 21st.

A 26-year-old man from Burnley and a 17-year-old youth from Burnley were arrested on suspicion of wounding and released on police bail until December 17th.
