THE Burnley Express is to be commended for taking the lead in the call to get something done about the potholes found on so many of Burnley’s roads.
The poor motorist is so often kicked in the teeth by governments through ever-increasing taxation on both vehicle licence tax and petrol duty. It is about time we got something back and the news an extra £100m. is to be made available to tackle the potholes is very welcome.
Driving into work this week I noticed several road repair lorries were starting to tackle the holes which have no doubt caused damage to many motor vehicles in recent weeks.
It would seem that for once, commonsense has prevailed.
Now the only thing Burnley motorists have to contend with is the gas main works which threaten mayhem on busy highways such as Manchester Road.
