A few treats could be on their way to young carers in Burnley thanks to the fund-raising efforts of a kind-hearted local woman.

Miss Jacquie Devlin has been raising funds for young people who look after their parents, grandparents and other family members, and maybe miss out on some fun aspects of being young. After hearing of their caring and devotion, Jacquie has been raising funds for many years to help pay for days out and treats for the youngsters, largely through her work as a member of Burnley Lions’ Club. Recently she went on a sponsored slim, losing two stones in weight and raising £630 which has gone to young carers through the CVS in Burnley. As president-elect of the Lions this year she plans to continue fund-raising. She wants to thank all her sponsors and Caroline Griffiths from Slimming World for lots of encouragement.
