Junior treble choristers Francesca Gilbert (11) and Elizabeth Saunders (12) have been presented with the Archdeacon of Blackburn’s Award for their loyal and faithful service to St John the Evangelist church in Higham.

Both live in the village and attend St Christopher’s High School. They both play the piano and have accompanied at singing in church. Francesca is also learning to play the flute.

Their ribboned medal to be worn wear at church services and a certificate was given to them at a festival service organised by the Royal School of Church Music in Blackburn Cathedral. Choirmaster Robert Fergusson said the girls deserved to be commended for their valuable contribution to worship and village life.
