A group of lucky Barnoldswick schoolchildren were treated to a VIP visit when Burnley FC’s star midfielder Jeff Hendrick stopped by.

Jeff was dropping in on the pupils at St Joseph’s RC Primary School to present them with certificates and to congratulate them on completing the six week long Schools’ Healthy Eating Programme with Burnley FC in the Community.

During the visit, the children also got the chance to ask Jeff lots of questions about his own diet and learned why, as a professional footballer, eating well is such an important part of his job.

Abby Turner, Health and Wellbeing Manager at Burnley FC in the Community said: “It’s so brilliant for children to learn about healthy eating from someone like Jeff, for whom diet and exercise are such a vital part of his job. It was a great way for them to understand more about the importance of healthy lifestyle choices.”

Mrs Henderson, Year Five teacher at St Joseph’s said: “The children absolutely loved meeting Jeff! It was a such a lovely way to top off a fantastic few weeks with Burnley FC in the Community.”
