The Burnley Express has teamed up with the Jane Tomlinson Appeal to give local causes the chance to grab a share of a £10,000 charity windfall.
The cash was raised by the face of Safestyle Windows’ famous TV adverts, Jeff Brown, who lost over five stone in weight to take on the event organised by Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All.
He accepted a challenge thrown down by Lancashire firm Premier Range, which pledged to donate £10,000 to the Jane Tomlinson Appeal if he completed the race. Jeff crossed the finishing line last June in 1hr 37 mins.
And now appeal organisers are making the fantastic total available to deserving causes across the Burnley area.
Groups are invited to apply for a grant of up to £5,000 from the charity kitty with the cash allocations being decided by a committee of people including Jeff Brown and Express editor Chris Daggett.
Jeff said: “It was a great feeling to cross the finishing line and it is wonderful the Jane Tomlinson Appeal has decided to give the money to charities in our area.”
The Big Charity Giveaway was unveiled at the launch of this year’s Pennine Lancashire 10K at the Gawthorpe Hall training ground of Burnley FC – who are keen supporters of the annual event.
Anybody wishing to apply for the BIG CHARITY GIVEAWAY can do so by looking at page 14/15 of Tuesday’s Burnley Express.
