THIEVES broke into a primary school while pupils were performing their Christmas play.
Cash and staff belongings were stolen from classrooms at Worsthorne Primary School, in Brownside Road.
Thieves sneaked into the school and escaped with £5 in cash from a wallet, which was inside a bag in one classroom, and £35 in cash and an iPhone from a bag in another classroom between 2-15 and 3-30pm on Thursday, December 13th.
Louise Young, headteacher at Worsthorne Primary School, said: “It’s very upsetting that someone used our Nativity play as an opportunity to steal things. The police are investigating and have been very helpful.
“But it certainly hasn’t taken the shine off Christmas for any of us at the school. We had more than 350 people at the nativity performances and they gave us fantastic feedback.
