Legions of women united to help beat cancer in a colourful and resplendent Race for Life 2013.
Here’s our photo slideshow of the big event, taken by photographer Andrew Smith.
A carnival atmosphere prevailed as more than 1,100 women joined together in Towneley Park to take on the 5km race for Cancer Research.
Jane Bullock, of Cancer Research UK, said it was great to be back in Burnley again to host the Race for Life.
She said: “It is a brilliant day and we have got more than 1,000 women taking part and raising money for Cancer Research UK which we are thrilled about.
“A lot of the women taking part are either cancer survivors or they might have lost someone to cancer or they have got someone in their family who is currently fighting the disease.”
“The support is amazing and the atmosphere and the women are tremendous.”
Alice Pier (13) of Cliviger, crossed the line first in 19 minutes 31 seconds and the teenager, who runs for Clayton Harriers, was pleased with her time.
