The local branch of the Samaritans raised much needed funds at its annual Spring Fair.

Pendle, Burnley, Craven and Rossendale Samaritans hosted the event at St Thomas’ Church, Barrowford, on Bank Holiday Monday.

A plant fair, books, jewellery and stalls helped to support the charity’s round-the-clock support service in the area.

Samaritans branch director Sue Fetigan said: “We’d like to say a huge thanks to everyone who came along on the day, and especially to all the volunteers and businesses who help to make it such a fun day.

“We’re always here for callers – 24 hours a day, 364 days a year, but our service is entirely dependent on public donations to keep going. Last year alone, our branch responded to 27,671 calls. Whenever we’re needed, whatever the reason, we want to be here to help.”
