A BURNLEY woman is preparing for a hair-raising experience – shaving her head for charity.

Tara Houlihan (34), who used to run the Commercial pub, in Harle Syke, has vowed to complete the challenge if she can raise a minimum of £500 sponsorship for Pendleside Hospice.

She has already collected £200 in sponsor money and, if she can raise a further £300, will have her head shaved on Saturday at a special fund-raiser at the Commercial.

There will also be a charity auction, leg waxing and collection buckets at the event, which is being organised by staff from Million Hairs hairdressers.

People can sponsor Tara at Big T’s Diner, in Rossendale Road, Burnley, the Craven Heifer, Sun Inn and Commercial pubs, all in Harle Syke, and Million Hairs, in Burnley Road, Briercliffe.

Tara said: “I was watching a TV programme about people with alopecia. I’m sure if they can cope with the condition I can do it for charity, but I need to raise a minimum of £500.”
