A DOCTOR who dedicated his working life to patients in Burnley Wood has retired after more than 25 years.

Dr Paul Rhodes joined Burnley Wood Medical Centre in early 1987 after completing his GP training at Burnley General Hospital and Thursby Road Surgery.

He soon became a familiar face and when, in 1990, on the retirement of Dr Kenyon, the practice moved to its present site in Parliament Street, he was heavily involved in the changes for his patients and those of his colleague Dr George Crumbleholme.

The practice flourished at the new site, and when Dr Rhodes decided to hang up his stethoscope friends and colleagues gathered to bid him a fond farewell.

He will continue to live in Burnley, but will not have much time to put his feet up as he will be helping to run Ashmeade Home for the Elderly with his wife, Kathy.
