The gym, which can count BAMMA world champion fighter Rob Sinclair among its members, hosted a day of events including a bench press competition, zumba demonstrations and a prize give-away.

Owner Michael Coupe wanted to showcase the new facilities which have seen it become one of the biggest independent gyms in the North-West.

He explained that the centre has invested in new gym equipment and now offered classes with everything from kettlebells, zumba and circuit training to kick boxing and Mixed Martial Arts.

He said: “There has been a lot of investment gone in. There is everything here to help people get fitter and healthier.

“We have nearly £500,000 of equipment and it is here to be used not just collecting dust.

“The reason I opened a gym in the first place was to put something back. Now I am looking for some support back from the town and for people to get behind it.”

The open day gave fitness fanatics got the chance to take part in a bench press competition and the incline trainer challenge.

There were Mixed Martial Arts and kick boxing exhibitions as well as demonstrations in zumba and street dance.

A prize draw saw new members getting the chance to pop a balloon to win prizes which included a TV, six-month membership and £50 vouchers.

Mr Coupe said: “It was a really good atmosphere. Everyone was having a laugh.”
