The club - whose previous cook was provided by the council before funding was cut - are hoping for a self-employed chef with catering experience to work from 9:30 to 13:30 every Tuesday morning.

Sheila Livsey, Chair of the luncheon club, said anyone interested was welcome to attend one of the event’s upcoming iterations, which take place at the Hapton Methodist Church on Whitefield Street.

“We have people over 90, it’s the only time they get out,” Sheila said. “[We] prevent the elderly becoming isolated.”
