Future of Burnley’s Chaddesley House in doubt

OFFICES housing social care and children’s services could close and move from Burnley as part of county-wide cost-cutting measures by Lancashire County Council.

The Express first revealed in November, 2010, that the landmark building in Manchester Road was under threat when County Hall bosses confirmed that adult and children’s social services, based in the building, would be affected by the shake-up with some possibly being relocated to the Globe Centre in Accrington.

However, council chiefs would not confirm rumours that staff are soon to be relocated. A county council spokesman said: “The county council is currently reviewing all office accommodation across the county to bring employees together in fewer buildings so that we can work more efficiently and make significant savings in order to protect frontline services.

“A report is currently being drawn up into accommodation in the east of the county and no decisions have been made, so any rumour that a decision has been made to move staff out of Chaddesley House is simply speculation.”
